Ruth Blankenbaker is the executive director of the Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration (CILC), a not-for-profit organization that assists education, libraries, and communities with interactive videoconferencing for educational, professional development, and partnership purposes. CILC works with clients to plan, implement, and manage the successful integration of technology. Ruth has been CILC’s executive director since its inception in 1994.
She earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in education from Indiana University and holds professional teaching licenses for Pre-K–12 grades. She was director of technology at Park Tudor School in Indianapolis from 1983–1994. Ruth has served as president of the Indiana Computer Educators and as a board member of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), the nation’s largest K–12 educational technology organization representing more than 85,000 professionals worldwide.
Since 2004, Ruth has been an Advisory Council member for Internet2 K20. She is also one of the founding members and organizers of the Keystone Conference. This K–12 educator conference helps users reach beyond the limitations of their local and regional resources by creating links with videoconferencing users around the world to demonstrate and discuss the best practices and uses of interactive videoconferencing in education. Ruth has presented at numerous state, regional, national, and international conferences and is frequently consulted by organizations both within and outside education on appropriate and effective strategies for the integration of interactive videoconferencing technology.
