Financial Literacy: Teach It! models a systemic approach for integrating a critical 21st Century skill into the classroom at all grade levels. This series demonstrates practical steps that teachers can take to build financial literacy awareness and mastery using simple and highly effective techniques. Financial literacy is the ability to make informed and responsible personal decisions about money; it includes understanding budgets, making appropriate choices, and planning for a sound financial future. This series may be used to support teacher in-service training, or for continuing education for practicing teachers. Viewed in a group setting, the concepts modeled by real-life teachers on screen will readily spark discussion. The videos can also be deconstructed guided by a facilitator to examine technique. An individual teacher may use them simply as a "how to" session to broaden their professional skills. There are 21 short (3 minute) segments, three for each of Wisconsins seven financial literacy standards, presenting material appropriate for elementary grades, middle school, and high school. Conceptually, financial literacy is modeled in this series as integrated across the curriculum, while specific learning objectives for financial literacy are clearly addressed within the lesson.
