The story of Lost Bird is a focused lens into America's past, with telling glimpses at the clash of cultures between Native Americans and White European Americans. This powerful biography presents an opportunity for learners to see the personal tragedy of one young woman astride the nexus between those cultures. Supporting an investigative approach to introduce key historical concepts in a very human way, this program is appropriate both for classroom discussion and as reference material for individual or group study. The program introduces the viewer to many of the challenges of life in the late 19th Century in the American West. The documentary represents many contemporary and historic voices authentic to Lakota culture.
