Teacher Blogs Appreciation for Into the Book Web site

Wisconsin Educational Communications Board (WECB), the developer of the Into the Book Web site recently learned that an admiring teacher posted the WECB site to a popular teacher resource blog: ilearntechnology.com.

The Into the Book Web site is the companion resource to the video series which was developed in association with AIT and Wisconsin Public Television, and has won many awards: a 2007 Parents’ Choice Silver Award for the series; a 2007 Telly Award and a 2007 Aurora Gold Award for Program # 7, “Evaluating”; and a 2007 Telly Award for Program # 1, “Using Prior Knowledge.”

These messages were posted on January 28, 2008:

  • Kelly Tenkey, a K–5 computer teacher at Cherry Hills Christian School, sent this message to WECB: “I just wanted to extend a sincere thank you for this incredible resource! I have just started using Into the Book with my students and they love it! They are learning such valuable reading strategies. I have written a review/recommendation for Into the Book on my blog for educators (as featured on www.theapple.com).
  • Frank Emanuele, a grade 3–4 teacher in London, Ontario, had this to say: “WOW, what a fantastic Web site! I heard some great buzz around the school about the site. After reviewing it myself, I dove right in with my classroom today on the SmartBoard. What an excellent tool to extend the activities already happening in my classroom! I am emailing to congratulate you on a fantastic project so far and I am wondering when the Summarizing and Synthesizing sections will be ready. Thanks again for an engaging and helpful tool.”
