Chuck Wilson Appointed AIT Executive Director

Former Director of Sales & Marketing Served as Interim Director

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.—Chuck Wilson, who had served as interim executive director since January 4, 2003, was appointed Executive Director of the Agency for Instructional Technology (AIT) effective on Tuesday, July 1, 2003. He succeeds Michael Sullivan, who resigned in January.

A national search had been conducted and a search consultant had presented candidates, including Wilson, who were interviewed on May 2 and 3 in Chicago. The appointment was announced by Werner F. Rogers, Chairman of AIT’s Board of Directors. The full Board approved the appointment at its semi-annual meeting in June.

“It was the unanimous decision of the search committee that the best person for the position was Chuck Wilson,” Rogers said. “The committee was impressed with the way Chuck has handled the Agency as interim executive, his interview, and most importantly his commitment to the Agency, especially his passion for making AIT again the leader in providing quality services and materials to the education community.”

Wilson was hired to work with AIT’s sales department in 1994 and was promoted to director of the Agency’s marketing and sales division in 1996. He managed the internal and external sales staff and oversaw all marketing efforts supporting the Agency’s 1,500-plus instructional and professional development products and services. In 1997, AIT’s Workshops were added to his responsibilities. And, in 1999, fulfillment and distribution services were included.

Wilson forged many of AIT’s present partnerships, including those with Magic Lantern, Marcom, Media Matters, National Educational Service, and New Learning Concepts.

“I am gratified that the Board saw fit to appoint me as AIT’s Executive Director,” Wilson said. “I’m looking forward to continuing my work on the Agency’s behalf by pursuing partnerships in the digital distribution of instructional and professional development materials and sponsorships of our educational publishing endeavors. AIT has done a great job of serving education for the past 41 years, and I intend to see that it stays around for many more innovative, productive years.”
