The Voyageur Experience in Global Geography

Ever wonder . . . what it would be like to take part in a group assignment that took you to places most people just read about?

In an exciting and captivating collection of video programs coupled with multimedia components, viewers will participate with a peer-aged cast as they explore diverse lands and experience how people of other cultures deal with global issues in their daily lives. Supporting text materials will provide further depth as students master their global understanding. Issues include: changing borders, emerging economies, the global environment, political landscapes, population explosions, global trade, the power of nature, natural resources, the movement of people, and cultural conflict.

This series is a comprehensive survey of important standards-based social studies concepts. Students will explore complex economic, social, and cultural issues while they watch diverse examples of social studies in action.Acropolis

The programs model an investigative approach to physical and social geography, following students on tour to distant lands. Each program features a case study of a specific geographic area with queries posed to the audience and several opportunities for extensions of learning in the classroom.

Emerging from new national geography standards, The Voyageur Experience will illustrate how actions in the United States influence other regions of the world, and how activities in those regions influence us.

The Voyageur Experience is more than a curriculum that teaches students about the world. It is a resource to enhance student interaction and participation. With it, students will communicate with others, problem solve, and explore strategies for improved understanding and cooperation. The series can be used to inspire additional study, such as one-on-one global links through the Internet, team project planning in class, and international group field study. Experience a whole new way to study geography. Let your students discover their world as they become Geographic Voyageurs.
