A learning object (LO) is any entity which can be used, re-used, or referenced during technology-supported learning, and metadata are all the attributes used to fully describe a learning object. The creation of learning object metadata is a relatively new field in education that resulted from the explosion in technology-supported learning and digital content delivery.
