In the field of educational media digital resource metadata usually includes attributes that allow for a quick and efficient search and retrieval of instructional materials like audio and video clips: titles, descriptions, keywords, grade levels, educational subjects and topics are all data important to the identification of these LOs. Specialists at AIT have been trained in creating metadata that marks education-specific attributes in the terminology expected by educators. In addition to fast search and retrieval enabled through professional metadata markup, digital media offers another advantage over analog that teachers are embracing: indexing of video into small clips focused on small pinpointed topics.
