Successful Art Techniques

Grade 7–Adult Basic Art Instruction

2007 Acquisition from Kern County Office of Superintendent, Bakersfield, California

Master teacher Brent Eviston focuses on specific techniques of drawing and painting that are common hurdles for emerging artists. Brent’s practical tips and skillful demonstrations make the concepts clear and easy to apply with any subject matter. Viewers are encouraged to draw along for a hands-on experience of the concept.

AIT’s marketing and product development teams provided consultation to the series developers to create a series that aligns to Arts standards in creation, design, art appreciation, and art history categories.

  • Performed quality control for the video, audio, and onscreen titles (lower thirds)
  • Close-captioned the final product
  • Digitized the final output, providing additional formats for customers
  • Created metadata for the programs, including segmentation, descriptions, keywords, and alignment to all 50 state standards

We created a teaching and viewing guide to provide educational and personal professional development focus for art teachers and adults wishing to learn more about basic drawing and painting techniques. The guide included the following:

  • Correlations to the Kennedy Center’s National Arts Standards for the Visual Arts
  • Program summaries
  • Learning objectives
  • Materials lists
  • Pre-viewing activities that serve to activate students’ prior knowledge
  • Viewing suggestions that contain pause points and helpful tips for following along with the onscreen instruction
  • Post-viewing activities that allow viewers to apply the lesson to new situations
  • Assessment suggestions
