AIT Products & Services

This month, our focus is on social studies, especially economics.

LogoThe ‘E’ in Me—The Entrepreneur in You is a multimedia instructional package that seeks to meet the widespread educational demand for a product that can effectively build an awareness of entrepreneurship. The three modules in this package provide an introduction to the characteristics and mindset of entrepreneurs and to the processes they use to identify and evaluate entrepreneurial opportunities. The package also presents several case studies of successful entrepreneurs—owners of businesses large and small—who share their personal experiences and explain how they identified the opportunities that led to their ventures. Several case studies focus on successful teenage entrepreneurs, ethnically diverse young men and women who identified the wants of their peers and launched entrepreneurial ventures to satisfy those wants. This program is available digitally. Contact AIT Sales for more information. Three 15-minute student programs and one 15-minute teacher program; targeted to students in grades 10–12.

LogoEcon and Me features four children who encounter problems in their communities which they learn to solve—thanks to their invisible friend Econ—by applying economic principles. Students in grades 2–5 learn that spending money often requires careful decisions, and that obtaining money is more complicated than sticking a card in a bank machine. With Econ and Me, even teachers who have never studied economics can introduce basic economic concepts. Two 25-minute teacher programs demonstrate strategies and effective techniques for using the five 15-minute student programs. The comprehensive teacher’s guide includes activities and student handouts to reinforce basic skills. This program is available digitally. Contact AIT Sales for more information.

LogoEconomics at Work In the complex arena of economics, we often hear references to interest, savings, consumption, profit, overhead, production, and a myriad of other factors. Without a context, those terms are just theories and fancy words! Economics at Work is a curriculum program that places these theories into real-world, relevant situations. Five modules for students in grades 9–12 and college; available digitally. Contact AIT Sales for more information.

LogoCreating Our Economy is a comprehensive video-supported economics resource for fifth- through eighth-grade students. With real-life applications representing a range of industries and enterprises, the series explores key economic principles from the inside out. Go to the farm, get on the production line with manufacturing, and visit with education and the service sector. Through a series of 11 lessons detailed in the comprehensive teacher’s guide and five segmented videos, Creating Our Economy helps students meet 16 essential economics standards recommended by the National Council on Economic Education. Each unit in the 200+ page teacher’s guide includes structured lesson plans, black-line masters, Web-based activities, and opportunities to integrate economics across the curriculum. A video discussion guide is also included in the print materials. For more information, visit the Creating Our Economy Web page. This program is available digitally. Contact AIT Sales for more information.

Give and Take is another series from the AIT Classics collection. It is designed to help students in grades 8–10 understand economic concepts and begin to apply them to the decisions they make in their personal lives—as consumers, earners, and citizens. Twelve 15-minute programs.

LogoTrade-Offs helps students in grades 5–8 think through economic problems and increase their understanding of economics. Each of the fifteen 20-minute programs considers a fundamental economic problem relevant to the daily life of the child, emphasizes the economic principles and reasoning processes involved in dealing with the problem, and introduces similar problems to stimulate classroom discussion and follow-up activities. This series is part of the AIT Classics collection.
