By Elaine Larson, AIT’s Director of Education
With the booming interest and activity in creating digital media for instructional use, there is an increased emphasis on the metadata (basically, detailed descriptive information about the media) that must be developed for that media. With complete, appropriate, and consistent metadata, this new media achieve optimal functionality for “search and play” or archival purposes. “Metadata is Fundamental” is a PowerPoint presentation created by Elaine Larson, AIT’s Director of Education, for a panel presentation on digital media at the 2004 e-Media Screening. This presentation was created for a public television staff audience, but it is equally relevant for anyone creating digital media—teachers, students, independent producers—who want to maximize and extend the utilization and life of their media. This presentation is the property of AIT; however, feel free to inquire about rights for use by calling Elaine Larson at 812-339-2203, ext. 245.
